Joshua

Joshua is a school teacher in Chemolingot.  He has served our group as translator to the Pokots.  He is an important ally in our efforts to establish peace in this area.  Here is what he shared with us.

I am Joshua Nalekat, born at Nalekat plains on 14th November 1969.  I joined Nginyang Boarding School in 1983 at the age of 15 due to insecurity in the area where I was living.  Though both of my parents are still alive, getting to school was quite difficult because the Turkanas came to Chemolingot and shot every home stead.  A lot of killing was done here and the memory is still vivid because all my neighbors were killed.  I joined Chemolingot Secondary in 1991 and later joined Egoji Teachers’ Training College in 1996 and I qualified as a teacher.  I am longing for peace.  I am longing to share the little resources with our neighbors and live together as brothers.

Below, Joshua helps with the distribution of purchased materials for the orphans.
